About Teofilo
Teofilo Reyes Jr., known as TEO, is a transformative leader dedicated to advancing equity in education, fostering resilience, and empowering underserved communities. Raised in a Central-American home in Houston, TX, TEO’s journey from academic struggle to social entrepreneurship reflects a lifelong commitment to overcoming barriers and creating opportunities for others.

TEO’s challenges began in high school, where he faced significant academic struggles and systemic barriers common to many first-generation students. These obstacles followed him into college, where he earned a 0.33 GPA during his first semester as a student-athlete. Rather than letting these difficulties define him, TEO turned them into a catalyst for growth. By addressing the personal and systemic barriers to his success, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology, a Master of Science in Organizational Development and Leadership, and is now pursuing a Ph.D. in Education, specializing in social innovation and entrepreneurship.

In his role at the University of the Incarnate Word’s Ettling Center for Civic Leadership and Sustainability, TEO has led transformative initiatives that combine education, civic engagement, and leadership development. From organizing mission trips to The Philippines, Brazil, and Mexico to designing programs that strengthen underserved communities, his work has left a lasting impact on students and organizations alike. His ability to foster meaningful connections across cultures has positioned him as a sought-after leader in higher education.
Beyond his institutional work, TEO founded the True Education & Outreach Foundation (TEOF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing scholarships, mentorship, and leadership opportunities to first-generation students. He also leads Teofilo Investment Group, LLC, a for-profit venture where he collaborates with educational institutions, nonprofits, and corporations to deliver strategic consulting, professional development, and resilience training. Together, his nonprofit and for-profit ventures share a unified mission: to break down barriers and build pathways to success.

As a public speaker, TEO has delivered impactful keynotes and workshops for NCAA Division I athletic teams, universities, K-12 schools, and community organizations. His programs blend powerful storytelling with actionable strategies, focusing on resilience, cultural pride, and financial independence. These efforts reflect his passion for inspiring individuals and transforming systems.

Now based in San Antonio, TX, TEO balances his professional endeavors with his commitment to family. Alongside his wife, Michelle, and their daughter, Stella, he continues to build a legacy rooted in service, leadership, and innovation. Whether inspiring students, empowering communities, or leading global initiatives, TEO’s mission is clear: to transform education, foster leadership, and create a more equitable future.
